Back in the early years of aerospace a certain chemmilling and anodizing company would send the same employee each week to a local drug store to buy a gross (144) of these. It drove the store crazy wondering how someone could use that many. It turns out after extensive testing under grueling environments that this item (the dry type) was best suited for covering the ends of tubes that were being chemmilled.
